CHEF RUWAN
With over 30 years of international culinary experience, Chef Ruwan has mastered the art of blending authentic Sri Lankan flavours with global cuisine. His journey began at the Colombo International Hotel School in 1996, setting the foundation for an extraordinary career that has taken him across Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand.
From his early days at Prawnies Unlimited and Darin Restaurant in Saudi Arabia, to honing his skills as a Chef Baker at Delifrance Sri Lanka and Pastry Chef at Little Lion Bakery, Chef Ruwan has developed a deep understanding of diverse culinary techniques. His tenure as Chef de Cuisine at the prestigious Mount Lavinia Hotel further refined his expertise in both traditional and contemporary cuisine.
Moving to New Zealand in 2007, Chef Ruwan continued his culinary journey as a Baker at New World, before serving at James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor and later as a Private Chef, catering to exclusive clients. Most recently, he led the kitchen at Boulcott’s Farm Heritage Golf Club, bringing his signature flavours to the local dining scene.
Now, with Ruwan’s Kitchen, he is on a mission to introduce the rich, aromatic essence of Sri Lankan spices to the world. Whether crafting traditional favourites or bold new flavours, every dish he creates is infused with passion, experience, and a deep love for food.
